Robert Mellin & Gian-Piero | Reverberi | FILMCD705 | 5014929070520 | CD | TV Soundtracks
One of the most evocative children’s TV series of the 1960s is equally matched by Robert Mellin and Gian-Piero Reverberi’s enchanting score familiar to any young viewer of the period. Includes over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music discovered after extensive research in the archive of Franco-London films and lovingly remastered.
Originally a French TV series based upon Daniel Defoe’s classic novel, The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe first appeared on UK TV in 1965, dubbed into English and as a 13 part serial. More noteably, the production was given a new soundtrack, composed by Robert Mellin and Gian-Piero Reverberi, the haunting theme tune for which has become one of the most successful pieces of TV music ever. It was recreated by Art of Noise in 1989, which introduced it to a whole new generation, but it perhaps best loved in its original form.
The CD includes over 32 minutes previously unreleased music plus a new digital recording of a symphonic suite of music from the series as well as the classic theme tune.
